Jundt, J. 2000. Species Identification Guide: An Online Guide for Amphibians in the United States and Canada.  USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center, Jamestown, North Dakota.  This excellent site hosted by the USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center provides an online checklist and identification guide for amphibian species.  Simply go through the appropriate link for either salamanders or frogs and toads.

AmphibiaWeb hosted by the University of California, Berkeley, includes photographs and distribution maps, and also a link to the NatureServe Explorer which has more in-depth information on species conservation status, risk factors, ecology and lifestyle. This excellent site also includes a references list. 

 

North American Center for Amphibian Malformations.  An excellent resource for information on malformed amphibians.  

 

FrogWeb includes species information as well information on amphibian declines and deformities.

The USGS Frog Watch USA site.  If you navigate through How to Frogwatch/ Learn about your frogs and toads/ Get a list/  you will be provided with a list of frogs and toads local to your state.  Photographs, distribution maps and information on identification are included.

 

North American Amphibian Monitoring Program.  The program monitors populations of vocal amphibians.  Find out how to participate in frog call surveys in your local area.
